According to the DSM-5, a difficulty experiencing orgasm and/or markedly reduced intensity of orgasmic sensations in women is called female orgasmic disorder. For a diagnosis, these symptoms must occur on almost or all (about 75-100 percent) occasions during sexual activity with a minimal duration of about 6 months. The experience of an orgasm via clitoral stimulation not during intercourse does not meet the criteria for a clinical diagnosis of female orgasmic disorder.
