Often, coworkers are more knowledgeable about the job than anyone else, but they may not be effective as trainers or mentors. Coworkers may not be able to instruct others. Also, they may teach new workers shortcuts, rather than the correct procedures. If coworkers are going to be used in training, they must be given instruction on how to train and enough time on the job to spend with the new employees.
