Why is it difficult to see a chameleon that has blended in with its background

A)  Perceptually, the chameleon and the background share a common fate.
B)  The illusion of relative size leads us to think that the chameleon has disappeared.
C)  We cannot easily distinguish between figure and ground in this case.
D)  The perceptual principle of shape constancy prevents us from seeing the chameleon.

Distinguish

To recognize or identify as different; to categorize separate entities based on specific criteria.

Figure And Ground

A visual perception principle where the viewer automatically separates elements of an image into the 'figure', which stands out from the 'ground', or background, providing a primary focus.
