Answers will vary. Abused children show a high incidence of personal and social problems and psychological disorders. In general, abused children are less securely attached to their parents. They are less intimate with peers and more aggressive, angry, and noncompliant than other children. They have lower self-esteem and perform more poorly in school. Later on, abused children are at greater risk for delinquency, risky sexual behavior, substance abuse, and abusing their own children.
