Transformational leadership may be less effective at motivating Millennials to put their company's needs first because they are individualistic and see work as less central to their lives. The inspirational nature of transformational leadership and intrinsic rewards may not be effective for Millennials, who are more interested in extrinsic rewards such as rapid recognition and advancement.
