Describe two-wired motor control circuits.
On Jul 23, 2024
Two-wire motor control circuits are the most simple motor control circuits, but they also have limited control capabilities.Two-wire motor control circuits are called two-wire, because there are only two control circuit wires between the motor starter and the control device(s).Only two wires are needed, because two-wire control components, which are called pilot devices, are mechanical on-off type switches, similar to the toggle switch in a room to turn the lights on and off.Pilot devices control the motor starter control coil, but some other force must act on them to open and close the contacts (such as water level for a float switch); no operator is needed for the control circuit to operate.Pilot device is the term given to any two-wire control circuit component that mechanically closes and opens its control contacts, depending on the state of the medium it is measuring
