List the two barriers to effective listening.

On Jul 26, 2024

Selective listening is one of the most common barriers to effective listening. If you don't pay attention the entire time someone is speaking, you will be unable to recall what the speaker actually said. Instead, you'll remember what you think the speaker probably said.Overcoming interpretation barriers can be difficult because you may not even be aware of them. Selective perception leads listeners to mould messages to fit their own conceptual frameworks. Listeners sometimes make up their minds before fully hearing the speaker's message, or they engage in defensive listening-protecting their egos by tuning out anything that doesn't confirm their beliefs or their view of themselves.
