Liberalism is a political ideology that stresses promoting government action to regulate some of the negative consequences of the corporate economy, and to achieve some measure of social and economic equality.Liberalism stresses the preservation of individual and group rights and liberties, and toleration for social change and ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity.Historically, American liberals have usually placed a priority on social over military spending.Conservatism , on the other hand, is a political ideology emphasizing streamlined government, low taxes, and a business sector generally free from government regulation and interference.Conservative ideology also stresses traditional social values, such as a father-centered family, and a priority for military spending over social spending.
