According to you, how does an organization determine whether it is on its way to meeting its strategic objectives?

Strategic objectives are long-term organizational goals that help make a strategy successful. Take Tesla, for example. Its main strategic objective is to provide clean energy and transportation solutions using advanced technologies.
To determine whether it is on its way to meeting this strategic objective, Tesla needs to identify the critical behaviors of its employees that would demonstrate they are on the right path. Critical behaviors represent the few key areas of activity in which meeting strategic objectives is absolutely necessary. For instance, the critical behaviors through which Tesla employees provide cutting-edge energy and transportation solutions might be (1) reaching out to different energy companies and universities to learn how their own technology can be improved, (2) observing potential customers to identify what components of Tesla's car are most important to them, and (3) delivering reliable customer support service to ensure no Tesla owner is ever stranded. A good critical behavior starts with an action verb, such as "deliver," and clearly and concisely conveys the type of behavior that will help the employee and the company reach their strategic objectives.
The section "Focusing on Organizational Outcomes" on page 350 discusses how an organization determines whether it is on its way to meeting its strategic objectives. Students can use this section to make their own interpretation and answer this question.
