Benefits of regular physical activity include a lower risk of early death, improved cardiorespiratory health including decreases in serum triglycerides and LDL cholesterol; lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes; weight control; reduced cancer risk; improved bone and musculoskeletal health (in particular weight-bearing exercise); functional ability and fall protection by engaging in balance, strength, and flexibility training; and brain health, including a reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
